Spring 2011

April 16, 2012 by Spring House Farm

Hello again Good Spring House Farm friends!

Spring is almost here! Finally after a cold and snowy winter things are beginning to warm up here on the farm. Back on our mountain, I noticed that a sugar maple is beginning to show a hint of purple in it’s still bare branches which is a sure sign that the forest is waking up. The Hammock Island pond lillys are beginning to send new shoots to the surface of the pond with beautiful blooms to follow!

New Trail!
I would like to formally announce the opening of our newest trail loop I call “The Big Rock Candy Mountain” trail. It’s a two and one half mile trail that starts from out office and makes it’s way to the top of the mountain and back. The trail passes an impressive formation of rock and makes it’s way through thick groves of rhododendron and hard wood forest. I have placed some rest spots along the way to catch your breath and take in the natural beauty of the trail. Our family pet Mr. Jerry Lee will be happy to be your guide. Speaking of Jerry Lee, we were thrilled to learn that Jerry Lee was featured in this years Woolrich fall clothing catalog. There’s a great centerfold shot of Jerry Lee along side the “other” male model. His picture proudly hangs in the office so don’t forget to have a look when you check in.

So quiet here.. but!
We hear often from new guests and many repeat guests about how quiet and peaceful it is here on the farm. Quiet compared to what these folks are used to in their everyday lives and it probably is in that regard. But one has just to sit our on the deck of your cabin or on a quiet spot along one of our trails and listen. Open your senses, be absolutely motionless and quiet for a few minutes and watch the magic begin to happen. When you become one with the woods, a hawk might circle over head, the birds will begin to sing the squirrels start messing about and a deer or wild turkey just might happen by. Now add a mixture of spring time and things really get interesting. Our ponds wake up and the resident bull frogs, tree frogs and other “critters” add to the symphony.

We here at the farm hope you all get the chance to come for a visit and take your stresses away.

Facebook!
We would lke you all to become our “Friend” on our Face Book page. Catch up on farm news, special events and special deals. http://www.facebook.com/springhousefarm

Arthur, Zee, Mr. Jerry Lee and our new addition ” Miss Chickie”! “You will have to log on to find out who she is!”
